Over the past year, we have seen tremendous support and enthusiasm for the creation of a new research facility – the Krembil Discovery Centre – at Toronto Western Hospital. Clearly, the need for top-notch facilities and the recruitment and retention of world-leading scientists resonated with our donors. This was also paired with a sobering awareness of the magnitude of neurological, vision and orthopedic/joint problems presented by our aging population: Diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, stroke, arthritis and macular degeneration are becoming increasingly prevalent. Now is the time to get ready to deal with these issues and others, as well.
We are grateful to all those who have allowed our hospitals to push the boundaries of medical research, making it possible for us to envision a future without disease. We urge everyone to join us in this critically important work.
