Epilepsy Monitoring Unit opens, thanks to Grand Cru fundraising event
The Krembil Neuroscience Centre is now home to a state-of-the art Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. THis special unit, in whic video and EEG monitoring are done simultaneously and continuously, is used to locate the source of seizures and to identify the seizures as either psychological or epileptic. The new facility has resulted in an increase of epilepsy surgeries by over 100 per cent. The outfitting of the unit was made possible thanks to the 2006 Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival. The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit was opened in October 2007.
